On May 31, 2024, the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) filed a lawsuit against the Board of Regents of the University of Michigan. Despite a request made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the school withheld documents that were created as a part of University-funded research on “surgical equity” and “social determinations of health.” The case was resolved when the University agreed to produce the written transcripts at the heart of the request.
