Do No Harm v. American Chemical Society
On March 5, 2025, Do No Harm filed a lawsuit against the American Chemical Society (ACS) for operating a discriminatory scholarship.
The ACS Scholars Program awards students up to $5,000 per academic year to help pay for college tuition and fees. However, the program was only open to black, Hispanic, and indigenous students. A member of DNH wanted to apply but was ineligible under these criteria.
On May 7, 2025, the ACS agreed to replace its racially discriminatory ACS Scholars Program with the ACS Catalyst Scholarship, which does not consider race in the application process.
