GOP State Senator Who Fought Against Woke Schools Is Now Pushing Bill Requiring ‘Racial Bias’ Training For Nurses

Republican state Sen. Chris Head of Virginia is sponsoring a bill that would require nurses to complete “racial bias” training despite having campaigned heavily against Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the past.

On the “Traditional Values” section of Head’s website, it says that the Virginia state senator regularly fights for “legislation that limits government interference in our daily lives” and “opposes the radical teaching of CRT in our public schools.” Despite this, Head has been pushing Senate Bill 35, which would require nurses to “complete continuing learning activities on the topics of unconscious bias and cultural competency” if they wish to get their license renewed.

America Needs Doctors, Not Activists

The United States is projected to face a shortage of over 100,000 doctors by 2030, leaving millions of Americans with inadequate access to health care. Yet, some voices within the medical community would like to see medical schools prioritize the training of students in political activism, even if that means higher costs for students and more distractions from quality medical education.

A recent article in the American Association of Medical College’s (AAMC) journal Academic Medicine featured the perspectives of five medical students and residents on expanding medical schools’ curricula to include more instruction in public policy advocacy and added flexibility for student-activists to attend protests.

A Letter to the President of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists

I have been a practicing therapist for the last 45 years and a proud member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). Today, I am writing to cancel my membership.
When I received the December 2022 issue of your magazine, The Therapist, the cover story gave me pause. It advocated for an aggressive approach to treating gender-questioning children, including some dangerous and permanently life-changing protocols. I read the article in full, and decided to write a letter to the editor in response.
The months following the submission of my letter have been a rollercoaster of pleasant surprises and sour disappointments.
